Climate Hub / New York
Arup and NYC EDC
Event Space and Offices
3,600 sq. ft.
Located on the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal campus, Climate Hub creates a multipurpose space for public events and interim workspace for
BATWorks, a climate technology innovation hub developed with Arup and the New York City
Economic Development Corporation. The hub is part of the city's initiative to
transform the terminal into a center for manufacturing and innovation.

The design draws on the terminal's industrial history while creating a flexible environment for public events, exhibitions, and everyday work. At its center is an enclosed, cork-clad room that anchors three open zones: a multipurpose event space, an open workspace, and a reception lounge. The central room serves as a conference room or collaborative workshop, and an interior garage door opens it onto the event space so the two can merge for larger gatherings.
The event space hosts lectures, product launches, and exhibitions. Ceilings are left exposed throughout to maximize height and recall the site’s industrial past. Cork is the project’s primary material, absorbing sound while giving the interiors a tactile quality. Installed as reusable shingles, the cork panels can be relocated elsewhere in the terminal, tying the project’s material strategy to BATWorks’ mission of climate innovation and the circular economy.
